Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in order to support the Local Food and Drink Industry, the membership fee of €100 for 2020 & 2021 will be covered and paid for by Cavan County Council.
An Annual Membership Fee of €100 will be required from 2022 onwards (payable in March 2022).
Application Assessment – Process
We aim to respond to your application within 15 working days and will send all relevant correspondence (including any clarification required) to the contact email you have provided in your application.
The final decision on all applications for membership rests with the Food Strategy External Working Group. If your application for membership is approved you are committing to adhering to the membership criteria as outlined above. This is a live document and these criteria are subject to change as the network grows and develops any changes will be communicated to network members promptly.

Category and Criteria
Producer Member: Farmer, grower, food or drink producer committed to producing (i.e. growing, raising, brewing, baking or manufacturing) within the county and selling quality products that must have undergone a reasonable value added process over and above re-marketing or re-packaging. To use the ‘Created in Cavan’ brand your business uses Cavan ingredients where possible and Irish ingredients where Cavan ingredients are not available, if possible.
Retail or Wholesale Member: Retail and Wholesale businesses committed to selling locally produced food and drink. To use the ‘Created in Cavan’ brand Retailers and Wholesalers must offer local producers from Cavan the benefit of their products being available to purchase in their outlets, websites etc. Details of at least 6 local producers whose products you sell must be submitted at the time of application. The spirit of the use of ‘Created in Cavan’ brand is that each establishment using the brand will do their utmost to source from as many Cavan producers as possible.
Hospitality or Tourism Member: Pubs, hotels, restaurants, cafés, caterers, B&Bs, self catering accommodation, tourist attractions committed to sourcing and serving local produce. To use the ‘Created in Cavan’ brand Hospitality or Tourism Members must offer their local producers from the county the benefit of being used as ingredients on menus and must adhere to the following criteria:
Locally sourced product should be used where available – one dish on each day’s menu with a core component sourced locally.
spirit of the use of ‘Created in Cavan’ brand is that each establishment using the brand will do their utmost to maximise the use of Cavan produced ingredients.
Producer / grower names must be detailed and highlighted on menus
Copies of menus and/or sourcing statements should be submitted to the Cavan Food Network annually at time of application along with contact details of named producers. A verification process will be carried out.
All members must comply with all relevant Trading Standards e.g. HACCP, food hygiene regulations and consumer protection legislation currently in force.
