What better way to keep old traditions alive than by immortalising them in a new cookbook from Created in Cavan. Members of the Created in Cavan food network have come together to create a book filled with local recipes, produce and stories from our beautiful county.
The ‘Created in Cavan’ food network has given food and drink producers from the county a platform to showcase their wares, communicate their unique food story, and it has empowered the food industry in Cavan to cement its place amongst the best food counties in the country. This new cookbook will be available for people all over the globe to purchase to spread the word on the amazing food and drink offerings available here.

The project was the brainchild of Samantha Rogers, owner of Hawthorn Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Belturbet. Samantha is a member of the committee compiling the cookbook and is urging as many people as possible to contribute recipes, stories, photos and more. Contributors to the book already comprise the 48 members of the Created in Cavan Food Network who will feature recipes using their own products as ingredients, as well as including some of their back stories and photographs.
The members already share several of their recipes on the Created in Cavan website- have a look at some Summer recipes here.
Did your Mam have a great Boxty or Brown Bread recipe? Did you family travel to find the best local meats? Or do you have a great story to share about food or food traditions growing up in Cavan? This would be the perfect gift for anyone living away from home with a family recipe or story included in it.
If you are interested in contributing a recipe, story, or photograph to the cookbook, contact Patricia on patriciasmith@cavancoco.ie or Samantha on s.rodgershawthornlodgebnb@gmail.com
