Crafts of Ireland

From a purpose-built studio located on the family farm, Sandra and her team at Crafts of Ireland entertain with afternoon tea and teach a varied selection of craft workshops including traditional baking.

Nothing tastes better that home baking or is more satisfying than producing a good loaf of bread. In this workshop, you will get the opportunity to bake you own brown bread and scones and watch as Treacle cake and Tea Brack baking are demonstrated. While you await your own cake being baked you can sit back, taste and enjoy the recipes from the evening over tea and coffee. All ingredients and copies of the recipes used will be supplied and each person will leave with their own Brown Bread and Scones for to impress family or friends. Visit the Crafts of Ireland website here for more information and to book your workshop!

Inis Escargot

As well as providing fresh snails for sale, Inis Escargot now provide On Farm Training for start-up snail farmers hoping to tap into the high potential for snail exporting throughout Europe. Founder Peter Monaghan is passionate about farming and working the land but recognised that his small suckler farm would not create a viable income on its own.

As part of his research Peter recognised that snail farming was a business that would work for him as there was a huge gap in the market for snails and it was also a business that required a low investment and had low risk.

Wanting to pass on this knowledge to others who would like to embark on the business of snail farming, Peter Monaghan, using his years of experience and learning, has developed a unique training programme for those wishing to become a snail farmer.  The training includes on-farm and virtual training and ongoing support as he would like to create a community / network of successful snail farmers in Ireland.  According to Peter, “Snail farming produces a huge amount of product from a small piece of land and Ireland is the ideal location for this type of business”.
